The Asante Professionals Club congratulates His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his historic address of the United Nations’ High-Level Forum of the 25th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Declaration and Programme of Action on Culture of Peace.
We members of Asante Professionals Club are not surprised that the United Nations identified the archetypal King of the Asante Kingdom to play such a critical role at the United Nations General Assembly.
We watched in awe, the excellent speech that outlined the critical role traditional authorities in Africa can play in peacebuilding on the continent and amply demonstrated how culture can foster peace.
Since his ascension to the Golden Stool, the Asantehene has proven to be a peacemaker and demonstrated that traditional leadership can be used as a moral authority to promote unity in a diverse political environment in Ghana and Africa.
We recall with pride, the role His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has played in building peace in the Dagbon traditional area of Ghana as well as the numerous behind the scenes interventions to promote peace and harmony among the polarised political leadership.
We, therefore, find it condemnable, attempts by sections of the political landscape to denigrate the genuine and good efforts of the Asantehene. It is very disappointing and unfortunate, the failure of some political actors to rise above the usual local petty-politics, which have sought to reduce the benefits and dignity that the Asantehene’s UN address portends and presages for Ghana.
We indicate our unalloyed and unflinching support for our globally revered King and assures all Ghanaians that the Asante Professionals Club will do all it can, at all times, to mobilize for the sustenance of the Great Asante Kingdom and Ghana. Welcome home, Ohene. Piaw!G
God bless the King of Asante! God bless Asanteman! God bless Ghana
